On Thursday, 26th May SHAPE exhibited at the 'Learn. Earn.
Legend! Indigenous Career and Employment Expo' at TIO Stadium in
Darwin.
The Darwin event was one of a number of indigenous career expos
delivered around the country as part of an initiative by the
Federal Government and the AFL to encourage young indigenous adults
to look at future education and career opportunities.
The expo was held in the lead up to the Round 10 clash between
Richmond and Port Adelaide. Players from the Territory Thunder,
Richmond and Port Adelaide attended the expo to encourage students
to attend school and/or further training and to inform them about
the services and programs available for them to access.
There were approx 25 exhibitors on the day which consisted of
education and training providers, job service providers and local
and national employers.
Over 500 high school students visited the expo throughout the
day.
