University of Melbourne Data Centre - Stage 1

SHAPE builds data skull for uni brain

As a world-recognised centre of learning, the University of Melbourne takes its computer data seriously. Very seriously. So much so, it asked SHAPE to construct its $5 million data centre, one lobe of the brain that drives the university’s central nervous system.

During the process, SHAPE was called on to provide solutions involving:

  • Strict data security compliance
  • Water control
  • Services infrastructure upgrade
  • Fire and acoustic protection
  • Urgency

SHAPE demonstrated its strength in project management and credentials as an IT protection partner by engaging closely with the many stakeholders required to deliver this business-sensitive project. SHAPE identified critical pinpoints requiring direction and action, and facilitated innovative solutions throughout the process. Through skill, knowledge and timely liaison, SHAPE ensured the project was delivered successfully within mission critical timeframes.

It is quite different to most other sections of the university. We’re effectively custodians of its nervous system and we take that role extremely seriously. We’re glad you took it the same way.”
