Newly refurbished Adelaide Oval
SHAPE was engaged by the Department of
Planning, Transport and Infrastructure to undergo an extensive
redevelopment of Adelaide Oval, Western Grandstand. It was a large
project that required the construction of a new media facility,
coaching boxes, interchange benches and food and beverage areas in
readiness for the Commonwealth Bank Ashes Test and the AFL football
season for 2014.
The project required the installation of a range of technically
complex features. These intricate designs involved a curved roof,
external facade, and ceiling to produce an exceptional high quality
media centre.
Testimonial
As part of the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment the existing Western Grandstand required modification to provide an AFL media and operation facilities. A key requirement of the project was to undertake the works over a compressed timeframe.
The SHAPE project team was able to deliver a difficult and challenging project on time to enable the facility to be utilised for the 2013 Ashes. SHAPE worked well with the client, design team and other contractors to resolve design and constructability issues whilst maintaining the construction programme.
